Not at all! All young emerging artists from Meanjin are welcome to be involved in UTC and/or register as a member. The only circumstance in which you need to be a UQ student, is to hold the position of UTC’s President, Secretary or Treasurer.

It is a requirement for directors, cast and crew to be members in order to be apart of shows. However, you are more than welcome to sign up after you have secured the role. Independent creatives, such as photographers, do not have to be.

Yes you certainly can! There is no prescribed date for becoming a member or getting involved. We have multiple shows over the course of each calendar season, so there are plenty of times throughout the year to join in.

Yes we do! If you would like to pitch a play for an upcoming season, feel free to email us (contactus@undergroundtheatre.net) and our executive team can review it as part of the play selection process - which occurs at the end of each calendar year.

UTC advertises all its auditions via social media (@undergroundbrisbane). We suggest chucking us a follow to keep up to date with our next audition period. As well as crew & director callouts.

Nope! UTC is for students by students. So we are all learning. If you are an absolute beginner and would like to apply for a role, you are more than welcome. Our executive team can assist you in learning the ropes and support you in your role.

Not at all. You are more than welcome to select your own contemporary monologue. However if you are struggling to find a good monologue, the audition packet is there to provide useful options and guidance.

All show rehearsals are conducted at UQ’s St.Lucia Campus.

Unlike other clubs and societies UTC does not hold weekly meetings. Members get involved on a project/show basis. Meaning if you would like to get involved sign up for a show! Join us at an upcoming social event, or if you are unsure of where to start - shoot us an email (contactus@undergroundtheatre.net)
